Meet the Hollywoods CicLAvia This is when West Hollywood met East Hollywood. This CicLAvia route featured southern California iconic urban landmarks along Santa Monica, Highland, and Hollywood Boulevards. August 21, 2022:
This CycLAvia route cuts through storied landscapes and cultures that have formed Hollywood’s foundation for a century.
Just in case you missed the rules that help to make these CicLAvia events successful…
Individuals and organizations across L.A. County have donated considerable time and financial resources to make these CicLAvia events reality. Positive change doesn’t come for free.
Where Santa Monica Boulevard cuts through West Hollywood, we pass through a district that once catered to the 1960s music scene, then southern California’s gay community, and has recently gentrified into the place to see and be seen.
Santa Monica Boulevard has also staged the largest Halloween street celebrations in the world. This bicycle artist looks ready for it, but we’ve seen him at other CicLAvias.
The route takes us to Hollywood and Highland, the heart of historic Hollywood. Here is where more than 10 million tourists and other visitors/year clamor to see their favorite stars.
But today’s stars are on their bicycles, rolling past the stars engraved on the sidewalks.
This bicycle designer/mechanic/artist displays his tribute to Prince.
Clueless tourists must have been shocked to find bicycles dominating the landscape in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater, Hard Rock Café, and other Hollywood Boulevard landmarks along the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Bikers are stopped at a few intersections where cross traffic is allowed to pass. When the light turns green, we pedal on past the Pantages Theater and into East Hollywood.
East Hollywood and Thai Town (and the northern border of Little Armenia) mark our turnaround point.
